These terms govern your use of the Furlough app and website, operated by Datascape Industrial. By creating an account or using Furlough, you agree to them.

1. Who can use Furlough

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.

2. What Furlough is

Furlough is a platform that helps animal shelters and organisations ("shelters") connect with people who wish to foster a pet ("fosters"). Furlough is not a party to, and is not responsible for, the actual foster arrangement. Shelters decide whom to approve and remain responsible for vetting fosters and for the welfare of their animals, including the in-person handover.

3. Fostering is free; donations and sponsorships

Fostering through Furlough is free. You may optionally make a once-off donation or a recurring sponsorship, processed by PayFast. Donations and sponsorships are voluntary and generally non-refundable; you can cancel a recurring sponsorship at any time from your profile.

4. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• If you foster, care for the animal responsibly and return it as agreed with the shelter.
• If you are a shelter, list animals and screening requirements accurately and lawfully, and vet and supervise foster placements.
• Use messaging and reviews respectfully; do not post unlawful, harmful, or misleading content.

5. Assumption of risk & disclaimer

Interacting with animals carries inherent risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Furlough is provided "as is" without warranties, and Datascape Industrial is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from foster arrangements, the conduct of shelters or fosters, or the animals themselves. Shelters and fosters deal with one another at their own discretion and risk.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Furlough is limited to the amount (if any) you paid us in the preceding 12 months.

7. Account suspension

We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms or misuse the platform.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date.
